LED truck lights are up to 90% more efficient than the commonly used truck filament light bulbs. These lights are semi-conductors much like a computer chip. When the voltage passes through them, they send out energy in the form of light. Chemicals contained within the light system help determine the different light colors. Incandescent lighting produces light through heating; not LED lights.

Shop around for the most affordable price. These lights will generally cost you more, but if you take your time, you can generally find them at a fair price. These lights will last a whole lot longer and use much less voltage from the batteries. They are also much more reliable. Since they don’t heat up to produce energy, they run cooler and use up a lot less energy in order to produce light. These units come sealed and do not need to be taken apart when cleaning, like other traditional truck lighting systems. Time is money when you’re trucking; you’ll get a lot less down time by using the LED truck lights. Led truck lights should last around 35,000 hours. Beware of manufacturers claims of 100,000 hours or more – this is simply not true.

LED truck lights do not burn out like the old-fashioned light bulbs. The lifespan may continue for as much as several thousand hours past the stated lifetime. You will know when it’s time for a change as the LED light will gradually grow dimmer.

If you want to compare different LED truck lights, simply divide the bulb’s wattage by the stated number of lumens. Some are rated brighter than others. This is just a general formula to help you decide.
